JIT formed over doctor’s abduction


QUETTA  : Balochistan government has constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe into the kidnapping of Dr Ibrahim Khalil and ordered it to submit its findings within 15 days.

Headed by senior superintendent of police (SSP) investigation, Quetta, the team includes members from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), according to a handout on Saturday.

Moreover, Chief Minister Jam Kamal and Home Minister Mir Saleem Khosa condemned the incident and assured the family that the provincial government would make all efforts for the safe recovery of the doctor.

Neurosurgeon Dr Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil who works at a private hospital was kidnapped by armed men from Shahbaz Town while he was on his way home on Friday night.

According to police, the windows of his car found near his residence were broken. He could not be reached on his mobile phone.

Ghulam Hussain, the missing doctor’s assistant, filed a first information report (FIR) of the kidnapping at the Bijli Road police station.
