Imran sees next six months as crucial for country

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said next six months are very crucial and will decide the fate of the country.

Addressing a PTI social media summit and women workers convention on Saturday, Khan stressed that the youth of Pakistan has to struggle to get rid of corrupt rulers who are looting public money for past many decades.

He lambasted Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari for “weakening national institutions and looting the country”. He added that both ruled the country for 40 years, but they did not match the progress made by PTI in Khyber-Pakhtunkwa. These rulers operate like mafias and will not easily give up, but the youth of the country has to fight for their rights.”

He observed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spent money on infrastructure and not on the people, hence they are in a miserable state. “Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif spent Rs60 billion on the metro bus in Multan, while a Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Peshawar was built at a cost of just Rs4 billion. The N-League government launched big infrastructural projects to mint money and gain free self-publicity through government advertisements,” he added.

He stated that the PTI’s development model is simple which has been implemented in KP: invest in education, environment, health and law enforcement agencies. He also disclosed the PTI’s policy on women rights and its aim to educate the maximum number. He added this would ensure their their inheritance rights, in accordance with Islamic law, and provide them with full protection.

PTI chief said social media is the most powerful tool to communicate and expose corruption. “The party does not have resources to spend on conventional media to support its election campaign, but it has a huge pool of volunteers who have new and innovative ideas.” He asked the PTI “social media gurus” and volunteers to enhance their footprint on the virtual space to reach as many people as possible. Khan said he wants to make a new Pakistan, according to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

He elaborated that they want see to Pakistan as a democratic state based on justice and equality. “We have launched a movement against injustice and corruption and we will succeed in making a new Pakistan. No one should be above the law, which is the golden principle of Islam,” he added.

He said Quiad-e-Azam struggled for 40 years to earn an independent state for the Muslims. “Today, Indian Muslims are facing all atrocities and thus we as a nation should be thankful to the Quaid and pray for his soul as he got us an independent country.”
