Man kicks wife out of house over ‘fake Facebook ID’

LAHORE: A married woman has gone to court seeking a case against a man for operating a fake Facebook profile in her name that has put her relationship with her husband in the doldrums.

Petitioner Shagufta Rani told the court that her husband has not only kicked her out from his house but was also mulling to divorce her after discovering the social media with her name. While the woman pleaded innocence, the husband did not believe her.

The woman, who is a long-time Facebook user, claims a man named Raja Khalil downloaded her pictures from her actual profile and created a fake account with her name as well as her profile picture.

Afterwards, the man started sending out friend requests from the fake account. First he sent a friend request to Shagufta’s brother, who accepted it. But when her brother told Shagufta about it, she made it clear the profile was not her’s.

The woman stated in the petition that Khalil sent requests to many other friends on her profile and then starting calling her to blackmail her.

When her husband came to know about the profile, he expelled her from his house and now she had been told that the man was considering divorcing her.

Complaining that Khalil’s actions had not only ruined her married life but also humiliated her, Shagufta requested the court to order the Federal Investigation Agency director to book Khalil for operating fake Facebook accounts.

The court has sought comments from the Director FIA by April 5.

Husband’s cruelty

Another court granted custody of a woman to her mother, who alleged her son-in-law had taken her hostage at his house and barred from meeting her parents for a long time.

Petitioner Razia Bibi told the court her daughter Bano Bibi had married Abdul Shakoor and the couple had four children.

While Bano was diabetic and suffered from hypertension and other related diseases, she was not being allowed by her husband to go to hospital for proper medical assistance.

One day, the woman called her mother and narrated the whole story on phone and said she wanted to move in with her parents. When Razia demanded Shakoor allow her daughter to come to her home, he refused flatly.

The petitioner then went to the area police station to register a complaint but the officials did not listen to her grievances as she could not bribe them. Razia requested the court to direct the respondent SHO to recover her daughter from her husband’s house and bring her to court.

On Tuesday, Bano was presented in court, where she told the judge she wanted to live with her parents as her husband was cruel and careless. After listening to the complaint, the judge disposed of the petition and allowed Bano to go with her parents.

Eve teasing

A married woman has taken her neighbour to court for allegedly staring and teasing her every day.

In her petition, Asma Bibi stated that whenever she went to a nearby bazaar, her neighbour Muhammad Saleem stared at her. Sometimes, the suspect followed her and teased her as well.

While her family and elders of the neighbourhood warned Saleem and he tendered an apology to her, the man again resorted to the same routine after some days.

When Asma complained to the Sanda SHO, he did not give a positive response. She has requested the court to direct the area police to register an FIR against the accused.
